“Let your eyes look straight ahead, and your eyelids look right before you.” Proverbs 4:25

Right when we were little children, while learning to ride bicycles, the first thing we learned was not to look down, left, or right, but straight ahead. The same thing is mentioned here by the wisest king Solomon. As we move through life, holding on to our faith, our gaze is not meant to waver. Around us, there could be numerous things to pull us away from the calling. The trials and tribulations that come our way may force us to look constantly at our problems. Instead of looking ahead, we may look down at what is hurting and bothering us. We may start fixing our gaze on the pain rather than on the one who is sovereign over all our pain. When we look straight ahead to Christ alone with an unwavering gaze, we reach our final destination with utmost delight.

Are we looking straight ahead? Where is our gaze fixed?

Let us ask our Lord to help us not to be overwhelmed by our troubles and to have undivided attention on Him.
