WHEN TRUE LOVE IS TESTED!
“_Then they lifted up their voices and wept again; and Orpah kissed her mother-in-law, but Ruth clung to her.” Ruth 1:14_
Ponder
Genuine love is tested during times of intense crisis. Ruth and Orpah are two characters that reflect today’s Christians. Both loved Naomie and refused to return, despite their initial insistence. Naomie then explained to them the benefits of going back. That is when Orpah really made calculations about her future and decided to quit. But Ruth clung to her. Although it may seem like a foolish decision initially, Ruth’s determination turned around her history and her generation’s history.
The uncertainty and losses of following Christ can be tremendous, but remember that your commitment to follow Him will help create histories and give you greater rewards.
Commit
Whom do you identify yourself with? How will your response be if you are given the choice to go back like Orpah?
Prayer
Let’s pray that we will be able to cling closely to Christ unconditionally, no matter what losses we will have while following Him.
