SHOWING MERCY.
“Although I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an insolent man; but I obtained mercy because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.” 1 Timothy 1:13
Ponder.
Paul confesses that he once was not a follower but rather a persecutor, offending the gospel of Christ and being disrespectful. God’s immense mercy was revealed when He chose Paul. Do we face similar people in our lives? People who disrespect God and us, who preclude us from sharing the gospel, who persecute us, etc. What is our response? Do we reflect Christ by showing mercy? Today, we are called to do so. This behaviour of ours would bring Christ into their lives.
Commit.
Are we able to forgive and pray for our persecutors, realising that their acts are out of ignorance?
Pray.
Let us seek God’s help to show mercy towards our persecutors. While we pray for them, we receive a compassionate heart towards them.
