NO TURNING BACK!
“But Ruth said: “Entreat me not to leave you, or to turn back from following after you; for wherever you go, I will go; and wherever you lodge, I will lodge; Your people shall be my people, and your God, my God.” Ruth 1:16
Ponder.
The story of Ruth is a typical reflection of the unconditional commitment we should have towards God. Ruth, a Moabite woman, definitely would have heard about the God of Israel only after getting married to that family. But after knowing the Lord, the number of tragic losses that family faced was enormous. The immediate expected response of someone at this stage of bitter experiences is to forsake this God and go back. But the stories Ruth heard about the Lord of Israel made her stay committed to the calling and made her proclaim to Naomie, “Your God, my God.”
“Though none go with me, still I will follow. No turning back, no turning back.”
Commit.
How will your response be in the midst of losses after following Christ?
Pray.
Let’s pray that we will be able to follow Christ unconditionally, even in the midst of suffering.
