Three tribal women who were complainants in a case related to alleged harassment at Durg Railway Station have written to the Governor of Chhattisgarh seeking justice. They stated that during a recent hearing at the State Women’s Commission, they were asked inappropriate questions about their personal beliefs and felt threatened. The women alleged that some Commission members behaved partially and attempted to influence their statements, while the Chairperson listened seriously to their concerns.
They have requested the Governor to ensure an impartial inquiry and to remove the three Commission members involved from their positions. The Commission Chairperson has directed the Director General of Police to conduct an investigation and warned that if suitable action is not taken within 15 days, the matter will be referred to the National Human Rights Commission.
The background of the case dates to July 25, 2025 when an incident involving the arrest of catholic nuns and a man at Durg Railway Station led to confusion and allegations, followed by official complaints and arrests. The situation later drew public attention and discussions at various levels, highlighting the need for fair investigation and justice for all parties concerned.
