The Power of Serving

The Power of Serving

Brother Gokul Kumar’s journey of faith began when he gave his life to Jesus and experienced a profound transformation. Born in Jaunpur district of Uttar Pradesh, Gokul came from a large family consisting of his parents, four brothers, and three sisters. Gokul got married, but little did he know that his calling to serve God would soon take him on an extraordinary path of sacrifice, resilience, and compassion.

One of the defining moments of his ministry came when Gokul learned of Pastor Balchand’s imprisonment. The news deeply upset him, especially since he and Pastor Balchand had known each other for years. Both men had served in ministry, and their bond was strong. After being released from his own time in prison, Gokul reached out to Pastor Balchand’s wife, Vandana, to offer his support.

Pastor Balchand was in jail, leaving her to care for their two delicate children. The Bible teaches that when we are able to help others, we must do so without hesitation. As it is written in 1 John 3:17, “If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person?”

Gokul gave financial help to the family and, despite the cold weather, took them to visit Pastor Balchand in prison. It had been a long time since they had seen each other, and this simple act of kindness brought some comfort to their hearts. Gokul and his community continue to pray and fast for Pastor Balchand’s release, standing in solidarity with the family.

Despite the many obstacles in Gokul’s own life, he has never been deterred from his mission.

When he gave his life to God, he was struggling with mental health issues. But through prayer and God’s intervention, Gokul found the strength to move forward.

He began by praying with small groups in different places and these soon grew. His own house was transformed into a vibrant place of worship, where hundreds gathered to hear the word of God. Many of those attending received healing and deliverance, and God’s power was evident in every service.

As the ministry grew, so did the opposition who threatened him to stop his church services. Gokul and his brother were thrown into prison, accused of inciting unrest, and they were held for three days. But even in the face of this hardship, Gokul did not waver. As he was released, he continued his ministry, preaching the gospel.

Gokul held a large gathering of more than 1,000 people, leading to the arrests of 38 individuals. Despite the attempts to shut down the ministry, Gokul remained fearless, knowing that God’s will for his life would not be thwarted. He reflected on Romans 8:31, “If God is for us, who can be against us?”

He has seen God’s miraculous provision, from bail money being provided to everything he needed. Gokul is a living testament to God’s faithfulness.

Through it all, Gokul’s prayer remains the same: to be used by God in an even greater way. He knows that the road ahead will be filled with challenges, but he believes that nothing can stand in the way of God’s purpose for his life. His heart is set on expanding God’s kingdom, even if it means sacrificing everything.
