SEEING GOD FACE TO FACE

“So Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: For I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.” Genesis 32:30

 

Ponder.
It is often difficult to see God’s face when we experience times of persecution and trials, when we are in our loneliness and moments of rejection because of our faith in Jesus Christ. But the Lord can turn that very place into a Peniel. Jacob gave the name Peniel, which means face of God. Jacob saw the face of God and understood that the man who wrestled him was God Himself, and yet God spared His life for His purpose. Seeing the face of the Lord in the midst of persecution will preserve our lives from the fear of death.

 

Commit.
Shall we ask the Lord to give us Peniel experiences during times of our suffering?

 

Pray.
Let us pray that all of God’s people facing persecution in many ways who are left alone may have Peniel experiences and find favour in our gracious Lord.
