Ponda: The second Hindu Rashtra Sansad of the 10th Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Rashtra Adhiveshan at Ramnathi, Ponda, on Wednesday demanded that the words ‘secular’ and ‘socialist’ be removed from the Indian constitution, that election manifestos be given the status of statutory documents to ensure their fulfillment, and that the performance of each MP be evaluated by the citizens of his constituency every year.
“If the western constitutions are drafted on the basis of the Bible in Christian-majority countries and on the basis of Quran-Hadith in Islamic countries, then why is it secular while drafting the Indian Constitution? (Former Prime Minister) Indira Gandhi made the 42nd amendment to the Constitution and forcefully inserted the words ‘secular’ and ‘socialist’. This is unconstitutional, and therefore these words should be removed from the Constitution. The sansad made this demand,” national spokesperson, Hindu Janjagruti Samiti, Ramesh Shinde said.
The sansad also demanded that the Election Commission ensure that promises made by political parties in their poll manifestos are fulfilled by giving them the status of statutory documents.
Expressing concern over the rise in the number of Rohingya infiltrators in India, the sansad passed a resolution that crimes under the Sedition Act be registered against “those who have issued fake voter identity cards and Aadhar cards to these infiltrators and intruders”.
The sansad also passed a resolution demanding that ‘Gurukul Education Board’ be established on the lines of the ‘Madrasa Board’and that the head of the education department in these gurukuls be proficient in Vedas and Sanskrit. A resolution demanding that the Places of Worship Act of 1991 be repealed was also passed.
Umesh Sharma, a Supreme Court lawyer, was appointed speaker of the sansad, while Shinde and Chetan Rajhans, national spokesperson of Sanatan Sanstha, assumed the roles as deputy speakers.
The week-long Adhiveshan that got underway on Sunday has over 450 delegates from different states in attendance.
