Persecution Relief Daily Prayer Update

October 17, 2021

1. Church, kindly intercede fervently for Brother Shibu Thomas, Founder, Persecution Relief, for an early and favourable judgement from the honourable High Court of Madhya Pradesh and for a complete acquittal from all charges.

2. A legislative committee in Karnataka has ordered a survey into authorised and unauthorised churches, priests and registered cases of forcible religious conversions. Church, please pray for freedom, tolerance and peace in the land.

3. Conversion means a turning — a spiritual turning away from sin through repentance and turning to Christ in faith. Be encouraged, church, by this testimony.

4. Pastor Anirudh Mendekar from Titurdih Durg, Chhattisgarh was attacked by fanatics and his house vandalized. Please pray for steadfast faith, endurance and divine restoration.

5. Persecution is pushing believers over the edge constantly. Pray that none of them will grow weary and lose heart, but may they consider Jesus who endured such opposition from men. May they be renewed inwardly by the Holy Spirit, day by day.

6. The Anti Conversion Bill and the survey of Christian missionaries and places of worship has been considered futile, dangerous and unnecessary by the Archbishop of Bangalore.
Please pray for the removal of unrighteous laws.

– Please continue to pray for the release of Pastor Abraham and the remaining brethren who were arrested in Mau Kotwali, Uttar Pradesh.

– Church, pray for the safety and release of Pastor Srinivas and his wife who were severely beaten up by fanatics during Sunday worship in Siswa Bazaar, Maharaganj, Uttar Pradesh and arrested on Oct 10th 2021.

– The bail plea of Pastor Nandu Nathaniel and his wife was rejected in the Azamgarh Sessions Court on October 11th. They had been arrested under sections of the UP anti-conversion law and other IPC sections, on 3rd October in Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh. Please pray for a favourable judgement and early release.

– Continue to pray for Austin Sunny as he awaits the date of the next hearing. Pray for his complete acquittal.

– The bail hearing has been postponed yet again for Pastor Santosh Kanoj, Rajesh Buriya, Bhawsingh Chouhan and Vinod Rathod, who have been in Bagli jail in Dewas district of Madhya Pradesh since August 8th, 2021. Please pray for a quick and favourable hearing.

– Pray for a favourable verdict on the four pending cases against Pastor Manoj from Wayanad. Earlier, on Sep 16, 2021, he was completely acquitted from all charges raised against him in a separate case.

– The verdict on the first hearing of the bail plea for Pastor Anthony from Jammu was favourable. The hearing has been moved to October 25, 2021. Please continue to uphold him and his family in prayer.

– Please also pray for favourable verdicts for the upcoming court hearings of Hemant and 11 others and of Pastor Badri Prasad.

8. Pray earnestly that God in His mercy would encounter the persecutors and deliver them from spiritual darkness, to fear Him as Lord of heaven and earth. May the encounter bring in them absolute repentance and complete surrender to God’s will, causing them to serve Him loyally and fearlessly and be willing to lay down their lives for the salvation of our nation.

9. Let us remember the family of Christian martyr Brother Kande Mudu, who was martyred on 8th June, 2020 in Jharkhand.

10. Kindly uphold the entire team of State Coordinators, volunteers and prayer warriors for God’s mighty hand of protection, provision, favor and for much fruit. May our bonds be strengthened as we unitedly seek to further His plans and purposes. May each of us seek to develop an intimacy with the Lord daily, so that we may stand strong, firm and unwavering in these treacherous times.
