Jacob had been known as a deceiver. After wrestling with God and coming to the end of himself, God gave him a new name, Israel, which means God rules. When we become followers of Jesus, we become a new creation; we lay down the old and step into the new. When we experience persecution, trials, and suffering, we must always hold onto the new and allow God to give us a new identity in Him. We should not allow these situations to tempt us to go back to our old lives.

Commit.

Are we able to persevere and walk in our new identity in Christ Jesus, no matter what persecution, trials, and tribulations we may face?

Pray.

Let us pray that persecution and hardships do not tempt us to go back to our old lives.
