Faith Overcomes Fear

Faith Overcomes Fear

Pastor Algin and his wife, have been faithfully serving the Lord in Lucknow since they began their ministry. For many years, their work thrived without any issues. However, persecution began to intensify, and soon an FIR was filed against them. Pastor Algin, his wife, and their two children, a son and a daughter—have faced great trials for their faith.

Pastor Algin came to know the Lord and accepted Jesus as his Savior. He pursued Bible training and began ministering.

Initially, they served with ministry support, but as their congregation grew, they became independent and relied on church resources. Their church, flourished, but many members have since left due to increasing persecution.

A mob stormed their church during a Sunday service, attacking Pastor Algin and his wife. Though an FIR was filed against them, through the grace of God, they were granted bail. However, the persecution did not stop. While hosting a Christmas program, a neighbour filed another FIR.

This time, Pastor Algin, his wife, and seven other believers were taken into custody. He was physically assaulted, resulting in a broken finger. They were imprisoned, with Pastor Algin spending a significant time in jail, while others were released at different intervals.

As a result of their imprisonment, their homes were raided, and they became homeless. Their children, whose exams were ongoing, had to stay in different homes to continue their studies.

During their time in jail, they endured mockery and false accusations of forced religious conversions. Other prisoners and jailers ridiculed them, saying, “Take money and convert us all.” Yet, Pastor Algin and his fellow believers used the opportunity to share their faith, answering questions about Jesus Christ. Even religious leaders from other faiths were present, and they, too, heard the Gospel.

Despite the hardships, Pastor Algin found strength in Scripture, recalling how Paul and Silas worshiped God in prison and experienced His miraculous deliverance. He also reflected on Paul’s sufferings for Christ.

Pastor Algin’s greatest inspiration among the apostles is Paul, who was beaten and left for dead, yet remained steadfast. He also remembered the suffering endured by Sadhu Sundar Singh, understanding that persecution is an expected part of the Christian walk, as the Bible says that all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.
After their release, they had no home and had to rely on the generosity of friends.

Their children missed school during their imprisonment, and they now plan to relocate and enroll them in a new school. Legal battles continue, and significant funds have already been spent on legal fees, with more financial burdens looming ahead. Pastor Algin has also reached out to Persecution Relief for assistance.

Pastor Algin warns that persecution is increasing, and the church must remain vigilant. There are many restrictions, particularly on small, house churches. He urges Pastors to continue to take care of their sheep’s in every situation, don’t leave them vulnerable for Devil to pounce on them.

In closing, he stands firm in the promise of Matthew 5:10-12: “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” His faith remains unshaken, knowing that God is with him through every trial.

The Christians are destined to suffer tribulation for their faith. Bro. Shibu Thomas, Founder- Persecution Relief.
