Vandalism, intimidation and threats alleging conversion charges, Mumbai, Maharashtra

63-year-old Christian Sister (name withheld), has been a devoted and passionate follower all her life and does not hesitate to share the love and gospel of Jesus Christ to whomever she meets.

As is the customary practice, Sister holds a prayer meeting every Tuesday, from 7.00 – 9.00 pm, at her residence. These powerful prayer meetings are eagerly attended by many residents of the Housing Society.

However, few days ago, Sister accompanied by another, was paying a visit to Mr. Vipin Mishra, a believer since past 10 years.

Mr. Praveen Mishra, his younger brother and their father, who are also neighbours of Sister noticed them entering his son’s house. Both of them became extremely irate and began shouting and yelling abuses at them.

Praveen, the younger brother of Vipin, was allegedly extremely abusive and shouting at top of his voice. He even resorted to physically assaulting the elderly sister. The duo, falsely accused the Sisters of trying to convert their brother. Giving vent to his rage, Praveen kicked and damaged the main door of Sister’s house.

Mr. Vipin Mishra was evidently very upset with the behavior of his father and brother and sought forgiveness from the Sisters. He was deeply appreciative of them for not reacting or retaliating to the provocation and absorbing the rage of his family members.

Speaking to Persecution Relief, Sister’s daughter who lives in Pune, rushed to Mumbai concerned for her mother’s safety.

Persecution Relief suggested that Sister write a formal letter to the President of the Housing Society, relating the incident, to ensure that there is no repeat of such similar episodes. The meeting of the Society was subsequently held, where Mr. Mishra accused Sister of having bribed his grandchildren with sweets and taking them to prayer service. This allegation was denied by Bro. Vipin.

Church, please lift up Sister and her family in prayers

Please pray for the safety of all the people who attend the prayer meeting.

Also pray for the persecutors, that the Lord would touch and change their hearts and lives.
