Two TN govt school teachers suspended for trying to convert Hindu students to Christianity


ERODE: Two government school teachers were placed under suspension in Erode district of Tamil Nadu after they attempted to convert Hindu students to Christianity.

The suspended teachers have been identified as Arul Mani and Saranya who worked in a government panchayat union school in Sellathapalayam panchayat union. Arul Mani is an assistant headmaster.

District educational officer (DEO) Mathesan issued the suspension order after conducting an inquiry.

The DEO initiated action against the two teachers following a complaint lodged by BJP functionaries seeking stern action against them.

During inquiry, the DEO seized Christianity-related books, CDs and posters from their office rooms. An inquiry report was submitted to higher officials.

The DEO ordered a departmental inquiry.
