Town Inspector tackles Fanatics efficiently, Madhya Pradesh
Pastor Braton Philips ministers with the AG Church in Madai, Jabalpur district in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh.
Recently, a believer named Mr.Gurung, invited Pastor Braton to come and pray at his home. Pastor Braton gladly obliged and went along with 4 other brothers. Pastor Braton had to park his car on the main road because they had to walk through some narrow lanes to reach Mr.Gurungs home. After having a time of prayer with the family, Pastor Braton and the other believers left their home and begun to make their way out of the fairly congested locality. As they were walking out, around 15 religious fanatics stopped and surrounded them. The Dainik Bhaskar News paper claimed that the fanatics are a part of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad group(VHP). The angry group of fanatics began accusing the Pastor of religious conversions. “who asked you to come here?”said one man rudely, while the others joined in with him.
Speaking to Persecution Relief, Pastor Braton said, “I thought they were going to beat me up, but by the grace of God they didn’t touch me!” In the mean time, the Town Inspector (TI) from Ranchi Police Station, Mr Neeraj Verma was informed about the commotion, and promptly reached the scene. After raising questions about the allegations, the Pastor calmly replied, “Sir you, yourself can ask the family which we visited. We came because they invited us to come and pray for them.”
After conducting a basic inquiry, the TI who sensed the Pastor to be genuine, handled the situation efficiently and asked the believers to follow him to the police station. Once they reached the police station, he wrote a brief description of what had happened. The letter stated that the TI received a call from someone complaining that a few
Christians were converting people. When he reached the scene, he did not find anybody taking part in religious conversion. Hence, he warned the fanatics to stop the commotion immediately and let the pastor and believers go.
Pastor Braton who felt supported and protected by the attitude of the TI said, “he was very polite and truthfully wrote the report about finding no conversions taking place, without using any exaggeration .
The Pastor has extended his thanks towards all who prayed and has encouraged every believer to pray continually.
There are days when violence and evil, like that inflicted on many Christians, overpower us, leaving us without hope and terrified. However, God always renews His unrelenting presence with His people: “The Lord, the King of Israel, is with you; never again will you fear any harm” Zeph. 3:15. In the thick of increasing Christian persecution, God still comes to our rescue. “The Lord your God is with you,” we hear, “the Mighty Warrior who saves” v.17.
Persecution Relief has recorded 330 incidents of hate crime against Christians in 2016, 440 incidents in 2017, 477 incidents in 2018 and till September 2019 we have recorded 349 incidents of Christian Persecution against Christians in India.
