Threatened by Village Pradhan for worshipping Jesus Christ, Andaman & Nicobar Islands
After a supernatural vision from Jesus Christ, God led Pastor Aneesh Mathew to Baratang Island, 150 km north of Port Blair, in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands leaving behind the comfort of his home, his parents, to obey God’s calling.
27-year-old Pastor Aneesh, rented a home and began sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Several people’s lives were transformed on the island and many visited his house for prayer meeting and Bible Studies.
Soon Sunday worship service commenced at his residence, where people began to see signs and wonders – people were healed from their sicknesses, healed from their addictions, received peace in their lives.
Seeing the influx of people visiting the village for prayers, the Village Pradhan (Village Headman) objected to their visits. He was determined to stop them at any cost. He visited homes in the village and discouraged them from going for Christian meetings. In spite of the hindrance, people kept coming for the prayer meetings and Sunday service.
The believers of the Church had cleared up thesurrounding jungle area and put a Cross there. The Village Pradhan in collusion with the Forest Officials, began to harass Pastor and the believers, asking for the Cross to be taken down.
After this incident, Pastor Aneesh decided to speak with the Village Pradhan, explaining that he was only helping the people of the village, live upright and moral lives. However, the Pradhan began to accuse him of indulging in conversion activities. He also began to harass the Land Lord of the Pastor, asking him to evict him from the rented premises.
Speaking to Persecution Relief Pastor Aneesh was very confident and focused.
“No turning back – no matter what the situation, God will give me the grace to face it. The Lord asked me to come here; He is seated on the throne and He has promised that He will never leave me nor forsake me”.
Church pray for the Pastor Aneesh and the belivers that to stand strong in their faith in spite of persecution.
