Thatched roof House Church burnt, New Delhi

Pastor Solomon Cornelius has been living in the slums (a densely populated usually urban area marked by crowding, run-down housing, poverty, and social disorganization) at T. Point, Lohar Basti Okhla More MB Road, Badarpur, New Delhi, along with his family.

Pastor and his team, minister and serve the slum children of populous Delhi providing them free education at “Free Education Center” along with mid-day meals. The mid-day meals help alleviate hunger designed to better the nutritional standing of school-age children in the area, rehabilitating them into the community.

This ministry among the underprivileged children population, from different walks of life and “untouchable” castes, not only protect them from the viles of drugs and alcohol, but helps the children get the basic primary education and improve their nutritional status.

Speaking to Persecution Relief, Pastor Cornelius mentioned that “The Saint Mary Church” in conjunction with the Church, has been involved in the ministry for the past 10 years, with a team headed by Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. Sanjay Victor.

Living together in this house-Church are Rev. Dr. Sanjay Victor, Pastor Augustine Kero, his Mother Mrs. Amina, Sis. Angelina, Bro. Patrick Kero and Pastor Cornelius.

On 12th June, 2019, the team of 6 members, were sitting down for dinner when they detected a strong smell of petrol. Assuming that the smell of petrol was from their vehicles, they ignored it for a while, until they suddenly spotted plumes of smoke and fire, on one side of the house.

Alarmed and shocked, Pastor and his team worked hard to put out the strong fire, after a struggle of over half an hour, with the help of a Fire Extinguisher and buckets of water.  The fire destroyed one part of the Church, the sheets of the roof, wiring and the CCTV Camera. The loss of property from the fire is estimated at around Rs. 25,000/-.

“As far as I know, we have no enemies and have been living peacefully here”.

“We have submitted an application at the local Police Station, Local MLA and the SDM.

“It is only the grace of God that no one was injured in the fire”.

Pray that the resources needed to re-construct this house-Church, will be supernaturally provided.

“And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; or if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it” – 1 Corinthians 12:26
