Son of village sarpanch stops prayer meeting, Birthday celebration, Telangana
In yet another attack on the freedom of the Christian Minority community, a birthday party cum prayer meeting was attacked by religious fanatics in Medak District of Telangana.
On 20th July, Suresh Manda was visiting his sister, Yeshumani’s house, to join in the celebration of his niece Blessy birthday, at Shalipet a Village in Shankarampet Mandal in Medak District of Telangana State. More than 4 Pastors and several believers from the local Church, had gathered to bless the birthday child Blessy.
While the Prayer Meeting was in progress, religious fanatics gate crashed into this private residence. They demanded that the worship be stopped immediately, and also ordered that no singing or music or use of the microphone be permitted.
It is alleged that Ramesh, the Village Sarpanch’s son was instrumental in disrupting this entire occasion. Storming into the humble home, along with a mob of fanatics, armed with lathis, Ramesh pulled out the cord from the PA System and warned all the guests to stop the prayer meeting and celebrations immediately.
Worried for the safety of the 4 Pastors who were guests at this function and scared that that this skirmish would escalate into something more grievious, the celebrations came to a rude halt.
Bro. Suresh, his sister and family are very concerned and apprehensive about their rights as citizens of this land, and the lack of freedom to worship the God of their choice.
In spite of this, no official complaint was lodged with the Police.
Speaking to Persecution Relief, Suresh also stated that a few months ago, during the marriage ceremony of his sister, his brother Maleshan was beaten up for praying and singing worship songs.
