Serving Jesus Christ, undeterred by threats and harassment, Uttar Pradesh
Pr Bakshi Ram Sagar, originally born in a Hindu household, had an encounter with Jesus Christ in May 2013, and committed to follow Him for the rest of his life.
Pr Bakshi called Persecution Relief Toll Free No :1800-1234-461 based out of Dehradun, Uttarakhand, said that he spent a lot of time, retreating into the jungles, to read the Bible and spend time in prayer.
“Christ was radically different. I began a personal and serious study of the New Testament. I wanted to understand what Christ had to say about things, and paid particular attention to the words of Jesus Himself”.
“His words were the foundation for the whole direction of my life, which instilled a sense of mission, that the love of God must be shared with others. The teachings of Christ were my formative study and foundation”.
“I also felt a very strong compulsion and a great challenge, that the Lord was instructing me to forsake all and follow God, and share the love of God with people from my own language group and community”.
“I just could not keep this truth to myself. The passion it evoked in me and the desire to introduce Jesus to others, overwhelmed me.
Hearing the clear instructions of the Lord, from the Book of Isaiah, that God wanted him to minister to his own people who spoke his language, he left to his home town in Lampuri village of Bijnor in Uttar Pradesh.
After reaching home he started a small fellowship in his house and people just started pouring in. However, a few weeks later, a group of hindu sadhus, dressed in saffron robes, visited him. They falsely alleged that he was involved in conversion activities and demanded that he put an immediate stop to it.
Subsequently, while at his Clinic, where he is works as a Therapist by profession, he learned that the Police had visited his home and summoned him to the Police Station. In spite of his innocent, the Police charged him under the following sections.
Section 116: Abetment of offence punishable with imprisonment—if offence be not committed
Section 151: Knowingly joining or continuing in assembly of five or more persons after it has been commanded to disperse
Pr Bakshi hired a local Lawyer and after a few weeks, he was told that the case was closed.
Recently, on 27th February, 2019, while visiting Uttarakhand for a meeting, he was informed that Police were apparently on the lookout for him.
“I am not aware if they want to speak to me about the old case or if they have any new information.”
“I have decided to follow Jesus and whether life or death, there is no turning back. In spite of much praise and much criticism, I am undeterred and will follow my own course set by my Master.”
Church, pray for protection and the peace of God that surpasses human understanding, to abide with Pr Bakshi Ram Sagar.
Pray that God may continue to use him for His glory and honour.
In Uttar Pradesh, the scale of “crack down” against the Christian minority community has been unprecedented, with tighter surveillance of churches and on those who continue to worship a western God, Jesus Christ. In many places, Police patrols are placed outside Churches, guarding the entry, to prevent people from gathering to worship Jesus Christ.
Persecution Relief has recorded more than 129 persecution incidents in Uttar Pradesh, this year, the most hostile among 29 states. Across the country in India, the doors of a multitude of Churches have been sealed and scores arrested on false charges of indulging in conversion activities.
Church, continue to fast and pray for Uttar Pradesh and for India.
