Prayer meeting disrupted by religious fanatics, Karnataka
A dozen religious fanatics stormed into a prayer meeting, with total impunity and boldness, disrupting it and threatening the Pastor and congregation with dire consequences if they did not stop congregating and worshipping Jesus Christ.
Pastor Samuel Nagaraj has been ministering with “Yesu Kripalaya Church” in Pete Kurubarahalli village, in Gubbi Taluk, Tumkur District of Karnataka State.
On Saturday, 20th October, ‘Fasting & prayer meeting’ was in progress at a modest hut, near Pastor Samuel Nagaraj residence. Believers from in and around the area, had been gathering for the past 10 years.
The religious fanatics who disrupted the prayer meeting began shouting abuses and accused Pastor and the assembled believers of indulging in conversion activities.
“Why are you running this illegal activity here?”, they questioned Pastor.
Shocked Pastor responded, “What illegal activity? I am sitting with the believers and praying? How is that illegal?”
They continued to intimidate and question Pastor, threatening him with dire consequences if he did not stop such meetings.
They questioned the faith of the people gathered there, specially attacking a young woman, Sis. Sarah, asking her why she was attending the meeting. Even though she told them that she was attending of her own free will, they kept intimidating and harassing her.
Someone in the congregation called the Ram Nagar Rural Police, who rushed to the spot. As soon as they saw the Policemen, the fanatics gave the slip and ran away.
Speaking to Persecution Relief, Pastor Samuel appeared mentally shaken by the attack. He also mentioned that the rest of the congregation were struggling to come to terms with the fear and anxiety they had to undergo. This was the first time that they were facing such an unpleasant situation.
