Persecuted Church provided with Police Protection, Karnataka.

On 09-02-2020, the ‘Revival Army for Christ Church’ conducted the Sunday Worship Service under Police protection.

Pastor Jagdish K.R. has been leading the ‘Revival Army for Christ Church’ for many years now. Recently, he directly called the Founder of Persecution Relief-Mr. Thomas, to inform him about the persecution that the Church is facing. The Church is located in a village called Thanniruhalla, which is situated in the Hassan District of the state of Karnataka, India.

For the past 7 years, the Pastor and his congregation, which comprises of around 100 members, have been gathering together to pray and worship, at a rented place. They pay a rent of Rs 5000 every month.

On 02/02/2020, the Sunday Worship service commenced as usual. At around 10am, while the meeting was in progress, a group of religious fanatics suddenly barged into the premises, causing panic and chaos. The agitated group began shouting and hurling insults at the Christians. Standing in the midst of the congregation with complete impunity, they boldly warned the Church to refrain from conducting any more Sunday worship services in the future.

The Police were informed and promptly arrived at the venue. After a thorough interrogation, they brought the situation under control.

What started as a peaceful prayer and worship meeting, ended up as a riotous altercation. The congregation, still recovering from that morning’s ordeal, later dispersed. Soon after that, the Pastor went to the Police Station and made a complaint. He also requested for Police protection and security to be provided to the Church on 09/02/20, while they conduct the prayer and worship service.

In spite of reaching a compromise with the Pastor and the Police, the religious fanatics proved to be relentless. They somehow approached the owner of the building which the Church was renting. He is an unbeliever, hence, the fanatics convinced him to stop letting out his property to the Church as soon as possible. The owner then called the Pastor and asked him to vacate the premises by 01/03/2020.

When Pastor Jagdish spoke to Persecution Relief, he sounded dejected, however, he informed us that somebody else was willing to let the Church use their premises. It is an open space and a temporary shed needs to be constructed for the Church to conveniently meet. He has requested prayer and support for the same.

We request you to pray that Pastor Jagadesh and the Church would experience God’s comfort, guidance and protection during this challenging time.  Pray that the group of religious fanatics would soon come to know the true and living God and put their faith in Jesus Christ.  Also pray that the Church would receive all the support needed to start gathering at the new venue.

‘Have mercy on me, my God, have mercy on me, for in you I take refuge. I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed.’ Psalm 57:1. God has promised to protect us from harm. Yes, we may face false accusations and unjust attacks or even feel like quitting. But the truth is found in scripture. God is our Defender, our protection, He will not let us down. As long as we stay close to Him for our protection, we will not be harmed.
