Pastor beaten, Motorbike vandalized in Sunday Church attack, Chhattisgarh

Religious fanatics, hostile toward Christians, attacked a Church in Shantipur village in Wadrafnagar Block of Balrampur District, in the state of Chhattisgarh.

Pastor Ajay Kumar Ravi, who had committed his life to serving Jesus Christ, has been ministering at Calvary Gospel Ministries Church.

Every Sunday, the worship service takes place at the residence of Bro. Anil Singh. On 27th January, Sunday, the worship service started at around 8.00 am and around 30 believers had gathered.

Just 45 minutes into the meeting, more than 2 dozen religious fanatics brandishing lathis, barged into the House Church, shouting slogans and began beating the Christians. Pastor was isolated and brutally beaten. The fanatics hit men and women with their fists and sticks, including women.

“There was no conversation but they just abruptly gatecrashed into the Prayer House and ruthlessly attacked us,” said Pastor Ravi Kumar. “It was a one-sided attack” added Pastor.

Pastor’s motorbike (Glamour 150 CC which was a gift from a brother, in whom God had put burden to gift Pastor the bike costing around Rs. 70,000/-,) was intentionally vandalized and badly damaged.

Speaking to Persecution Relief, Pastor was very disappointed that his vehicle was facing repairs for more than Rs. 30,000/-, to be road worthy again.

A Police complaint has been lodged within a few hours of the assault and investigation is on. At the time of this story being published, no arrests have been made so far.

Church, please pray for Pastor Ajay Kumar Ravi and the congregation, as the attack has instilled fear in the Christians who attended the gathering. Pray that the Christians will continue to remain steadfast in their faith in spite of the attack.
