Pastor beaten at market place, miraculously rescued

Pastor Madhusudan is a resident of  Nabarangpur District, in Odisha, India.

Speaking to Persecution Relief, Pastor Susant, State Coordinator, BYM for Odisha, narrated the following incident.

On 24th May, 2018, around 6.30 pm, Pastor Madhusudan was on his way back from the local market, when he was suddenly ambushed by a mob of religious fundamentalists. His motorbike was forcefully stopped and keys snatched from the vehicle.

The radicals started shouting abuses and accused Pastor of indulging in conversion activities, praying and spreading the name of Jesus Christ. They then proceeded to brutally beat, punch and kick Pastor, as the public watched as mute spectators. No body dated to interfere or save Pastor Madhusudan.

Unexpectedly, an old man walked into the commotion and confronted the youths, questioning them for beating the man. A few more bystanders picked up courage and joined the old man, by which time the rowdy mob disappeared. By the grace of God, they saved Pastor Madhusudan from the fanatical mob.

Pastor Madhusudan and his family are the only Christians living in the village. He faced the same situation last year as well, where he was brutally beaten in order to discourage him from preaching the Gospel. However, this humble man of God is unstoppable in his passion to fulfill the mandate of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Church, continue to pray for ministers of the Gospel like Pastor Madhusudan who are ministering in vulnerable and hard terrains of India.
