Since 2012, Pastor has been holding worship services at his residence, where he built a Church hall.
On Sunday, 08th September 2019, at 9.00 am, Sunday Worship service was in progress, along with 40 other believers. Suddenly, around 9.30 am, there was a huge commotion as a mob of religious fanatics, shouting slogans and carrying wooden lathis, stormed into the Church. With no respect for this religious place of worship, the mob targeted the physically challenged Pastor, brutally beating him. A Sham Sunder who led the mob, beat the congregation and even physically assaulted Pastor’s wife, Sister Savita Devi. She was molested and her jewellery – ear-rings and bangles, forcibly taken from her person.
While Pastor was reluctant and fearful to lodge a complaint, he eventually did, with the local JhemchachPolice Station and narrated the entire story. All members of the congregation were summoned to the Police Station, and eventually let off after interrogation.
Bro. Raj and Bro. Bennet called Persecution Relief, to brief about the incident. They were very instrumental in securing the release of Pastor and the believers.
