Pastor attacked while speaking at IPC Convention, Kerala

A lone-religious fanatic, trespassed into a Convention and attacked the speaker, injuring him on his neck and shoulder.

Pastor Aji Anthony, is an itinerant with “Travelling Ministry”, which takes him from place to place, sharing thegospel of Jesus Christ.

An independent speaker, he was invited to speak at a Convention organised by Indian Pentecostal Church of God (IPC) at Nilamal, located in Kollam district of Kerala.

The meeting started around 6:30 pm, and just after the Praise and Worship concluded, Pastor Aji shared the word – the theme “Deliverance from sin”. While concluding, heprayed and invited the congregation to surrender their lives to Jesus. It was a Public Meeting and there were notmany people in attendance.

The meeting was being video recorded on a mobile telephone by a Bro. in the audience. Suddenly, from behind, Pastor Aji noticed a man running towards the podium with a thick “tapioca stick”. He ran up on to the stage and hit Pastor Aji on his neck and shoulder.

Before he could cause any further harm, the assailant tripped and fell on the stage and was overpowered by other Pastors. He began shouting expletives and curses, threatening that he will not allow any Pentecost’s” to flourish in Kerala.

Speaking to Persecution Relief, Pastor Aji though overwhelmed by the incident, was grateful to God for protecting him and the other Pastors on the stage.

“It is only the grace of God that I was not seriously injured. The Lord saved me”.

“I am privileged to be beaten for Christ. I feel so much stronger in my faith. In fact, I wanted to continue speaking at the Convention but people sensing danger and further escalation, dissuaded me”.
