The attack took place in the early hours of the morning when the neighbour stormed into the residence of Pastor Chandrashekar Singh, and brutally attacked him with a knife.

Pastor Chandrashekar Singh has been ministering independently since 2003 for the past 16 years. Over 100 Christians gather every Sunday at with Nava Jeevan Prarthana Bhavan, in Harpur Post, Sivan District, Bihar, to worship Jesus Christ.

On Monday 12th August 2019, around 8.00 am, the family were praying at the residence of Pastor and his nephew was playing an instrument. Alleging that the prayer and singing was very loud and disturbing him, the attacker Bablu Singh who lives in the neighbourhood, barged into the private residence. He shouted abuses at Pastor and demanded that the prayer meeting be stopped immediately. He claimed that the praying and the music was disturbing the whole neighbourhood. Pastor’s wife was also not spared.

Then without any warning, screaming “I will kill you!” he pulled out a knife and attacked Pastor. As Pastor wrestled to ward off the attacker, he slashed him on the next, chest, face and wrist, critically injuring him. By the grace of God, Pastor managed to grip the attacker’s hand, to prevent more grievious injuries. As quickly as the attack happened, the fanatic fled the crime scene.

Pastor was rushed to the local Government Hospital where he was admitted and received medical treatment. His condition is now reported to be stable.
