Justice Prevails for falsely accused Pastor. Karnataka

Pastor R.S.Pawar who serves with ‘Blessing Youth Mission’ has been running a house Church at his own residence for the past 10 years without any problems.

Recently, at around 12 in the afternoon, while he was preaching to the congregation, a dozen Religious fanatics accompanied by 3 Policemen interrupted the meeting and asked the Pastor to stop the Sunday Worship service.

Speaking to Persecution Relief, Pastor Pawar said, “they asked me to stop, but I told them that I would come after the worship service was over.”

After the meeting, the Pastor went to the Bagalkot town Police Station but was shocked to find the fanatics already there, forcing the police to file an FIR/Complaint against the Pastor on the basis of Religious Conversion.

The Persecution Relief team spoke to Mr.Lokesh, the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Bagalkot district and briefed him about the incident. After listening to us he promised that justice would prevail.

Roughly after 30 minutes of thorough investigation, the Pastor was sent back home as the team did not find any charges to be true, against the Pastor.

God truly deserves our Sincere gratitude! “I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.” Psalm 9:1.

In the recent past we have observed an increase in attacks on house Churches. Religious fanatics have been systematically identifying  house Churches and are making every effort to close down these meetings.

Over the past few weeks, Karnataka has been experiencing frequent attacks on Churches. We encourage you to pray for the safety of Christians across India.

Persecution Relief has recorded 330 incidents of hate crime against Christians in 2016, 440 incidents in 2017, 477 incidents in 2018 and in 2019 we have recorded 523 incidents of Christian Persecution against Christians  in India.

US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) ranked India’s persecution severity at “Tier 2” along with Iraq and Afghanistan. Over the past seven years, India has risen from No. 31 to No. 10 on Open Doors’ World Watch List, ranking just behind Iran in persecution severity.
