IPC Indian Pentecostal church burnt , Telangana
Bro. John Lingum called Persecution Relief to inform about Indian Pentecostal Church (IPC) at Katryalla, Warangal district of Telangana state in India that was destroyed in an arson attack.
On Saturday, 02nd February, around 1.00 pm, Sis. Rangamma was the first to arrive, for fasting and prayer at Church and shocked to find the front door of the Church missing!!
Cautiously stepping inside, she was distraught and alarmed to see the ceiling gutted, musical instruments smashed, windows shattered, and doors missing. Nearly everything in the Church, was either battered, broken and burnt. She immediately called Pastor J. Prabhakar who lives around 25 kms away from the Church.
Speaking to Persecution Relief, Pastor stated that he was on his way to the Church, when he received the call from Sis. Rangamma.
“The sight before me was unbelievable!
“Everything that could have been destroyed, was destroyed. Vandals ransacked and smashed the windows including the stage area, carpets, electrical fittings, music equipment & speakers.
“I was shocked and deeply saddened to see the remnants of the ghastly and horrific hate crime”.
“I have no idea who could have done this cowardly act. We have no enmity with anyone in the neighbourhood”.
Pastor however recalled that there had been several break-in and attacks in the past – with construction material and wooden doors stolen and other harassment and intimidation.
Pastor Prabhakar had constructed this new Church building, spending more than 3 Lakh rupees ($ 4300/-) where he worships alongside 120 believers of his humble congregation, every Sunday.
“I don’t know why the Lord allowed this to happen but I firmly believe that He makes all things beautiful in his time. Please keep us in prayers as we start from scratch again”.
“We have lodged a complaint at Wardhannapet, Police station”.
Police are still investigating – no arrests have been made so far.
This arson attack and vandalism in this church is another horrible reminder of the prolific aggression and persecution against Christians across the land of India.
Persecution Relief has recorded more than 477 incidents of hate crime against Christians while 24 incidents were from the state of Telangana, ranked as the 4th most hostile state for Christians in India.
In the days following this arson attack, several people have extended a hand of support, in simple ways. If the Spirit of God encourages you to support with the rebuilding of the Church, please reach out to us at email@example.com or call us on +9993200022.
Church, please pray for Pastor Prabhakar and the congregation, that God will restore the Church and their faith.
