Holy Bibles burned in Arson attack on Church, Telangana

An alleged arson attack on a Church building in Telangana, has polarized communities, and created a “fear psychosis” among the people.

Rev. Gudimalla Anand Kumar, who is heading “Jesus Leads Ministries”, has been ministering for the past 20 years. With 3 Branch Churches, more than 200 believers gather every Sunday for the Worship service.

Speaking to Persecution Relief, Pastor recounted that on Tuesday, 09th April, in a Branch Church located at Machapur village, Govindaraopet Mandal, in Warangal District, Telangana, members of the Church who live close by, Bro. Kishan and Bro. Badru, noticed that the Church door was ajar. On closer investigation, they found the lock on the main door broken and the entire Church ransacked and burnt.

Reports suggest that the fire began around mid-night, which destroyed around 40 Holy Bibles, the Lectern, Musical instruments, the Podium, Light fittings, Ceiling Fans etc., valued at an estimated loss of Rs. 80, 000/-.

Speaking to Persecution Relief, Rev. Gudimalla, who lives in Gorrenkundi village, around 20 kms away from where the incident took places, expressed his sadness at this senseless pre-planned attack.

“I rushed to the Church on hearing the news!”

We have no enmity with anyone. I feel religious fanatics are responsible for this attack, just to create fear and terrorize the community”.

“Recently, on 3rd March, 2019, a similar attack took place at Pastor Prabhakar’s Church building, which was also burned down”.

A FIR was filed with Gheesugonda Police Station. The Additional Commissioner of Police (ACP) also visited the site. Police have questioned a few people in the church’s neighbourhood but noarrests have been made so far.

Church, pray that Rev. Gudimalla Anand Kumarand the congregation, will make a conscious decision to reflect the love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ.

In 2019, in just the first quarter, 6 Church buildings have been burnt so far. Across India, the doors of a multitude of Churches and House Churches, have been sealed and scores arrested on false charges of indulging in conversion activities.
