Foreign Missionaries arrested on alleged conversion charges in Uttar Pradesh

“Amar Ujjala Newspaper’ reported that in Saharanpur city, in the state of Uttar Pradesh, 7 foreigners – 5 women and 2 men – were arrested that they were involved in conversion activities, while on a ‘Tourist Visa’ to India. Most of them were nationals from Korea and Malaysia.
SSP Bablu Kumar stated that any tourist engaging in Missionaries activities” shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which shall not be less than one year but which may extend to five years and with fine which shall not be less than ten thousand rupees but which may extend to fifty thousand rupees” as per Indian Penal code.
Bro. Ranveer Sinha who was escorting them was also arrested and remanded to Police custody.
Father John Wesley had apparently lodged a complaint with the Police.
