Fanatics intrude house prayer, threaten owner, Chhattisgarh
Police complaint by Pastor
In many parts of India, it is getting practically impossible to have any kind of Christian fellowship- be it a family prayer, Sunday worship, a birthday party, a Bible study or even just a simple get-together. The religious fanatics just barge into private residences accusing believers of religious conversions. Such acts not only disrupt communal harmony and peace but also creates a nuisance to the house owners and causes them to live in fear. Sadly, there have been many instances where the police have supported the fanatics by accompanying them to these gatherings and taken innocent Christians to the police station, sometimes even booking them with false charges, resulting in so many Christians in India being unjustly imprisoned.
Recently, Persecution Relief learned of one such incident. A believer by the name of Kishore, lives with his family in
Debalod, a village situated in the Durg district of Chattisgarh,India. On the 08/10/19 Kishore called brother Pramod Chatri a local Pastor, inviting him to visit and pray for the family.
While the Pastor was talking to the family, around a dozen anti Christian youth unexpectedly gathered outside Kishore’s house and asked the Pastor to come outside. The believers, sensing foul play, did not allow the Pastor to go out. Kishore and his family somehow managed to convince the fanatics to leave and brought the situation under control.
After the fanatics left, the Pastor safely returned home only to later find out that a larger number of religious fanatics had returned to Kishore’s house and threatened them because of their faith in Jesus Christ.
A few Christain believers who became aware of this matter informed the local police. Pastor Pramod also lodged a complaint at Old Bhilai 3 Police station. The Police assured the Pastor that issues like this would be stringently dealt with insuring that the culprits be taken to task.
By the Grace of God, and the support of the police, the matter was resolved but most often it does not end well. As we encounter an alarming rate of Christian Persecution and corrupt law practices in our Country, we at Persecution Relief encourage you to stand with us by regularly lifting up in prayer, the Persecuted Church, the Persecutors and the governing authorities of our Country.
