Church service disrupted, Tamil Nadu

Daring religious fanatics barged into a Church, during Sunday worship Service, shouting and intimidating the congregation and Pastor, demanding that no worship of Jesus Christ should take place in the future.

Pastor Swaminathan Daniel has been ministering in Udumalpet in Tirupur District of the Tamil Nadu, at Open Bible Church for the past 23 years.

This Church cum Residence, is a registered organization approved in 1947, adhering to all the bylaws and proper sanctions.

It is alleged that Mohan Raj, the local leader of the religious fundamentalist Group, Hindu Munnani, has been instigating the people living in the neighbourhood, to oppose the presence of the Church in that area, alleging conversion activities.

Pastor and members of the congregation, met with Police Officials, highlighting the persistent and daring threats by Mohan Raj. It was also stated to the Police that necessarypaperwork and documents were in order for review by the Administration.

On Sunday, 13th January, the Worship Service was held under police protection, where around 100 believers gathered.

Tamil Nadu continues to witness a worsening law and order situation, and a spike in persecution attacks. Tamil Nadu, with 67 persecution incidents recorded, was the 2ndmost hostile state in India in 2018.

Church, please pray for grace and strength for Pastor Swaminathan Daniel and the congregation, as they stand steadfast in their faith for Jesus Christ, as a witness in that area.
