A priest of a Pentecostal church, John Britto, 53, a native of Madurai, was arrested on a charge of outraging religious sentiments after a neighbour allegedly found partially burnt images of Hindu deities in the precincts of the church near here. According to DSP Sangeetha, the neighbour had seen the burnt images in the precincts of the church at S. Gurupatty near Denkanikottai on November 2, and informed others.
A complaint was then lodged by a Hindu Munnani activist on the basis of which an FIR was registered.
