Christians being harassed

In Ariyalur district of Tamil Nadu, a group of missionaries were confronted and seized and illegally detained, falsely alleging conversion activities. They were brutally beaten, and taken to a local Amman Temple, under duress and asked to repeat:

“We will not indulge in conversion activities. We acknowledge what we have done is wrong. Please forgive us mother”, addressing the hindu idol.

Further, the hindu ash was applied on their foreheads and they were threatened not to wipe it off, until they left the village.

Article 25 of the Indian Constitution says “all persons are equally entitled to freedom of conscience and the right to freely profess, practice, and propagate religion subject to public order, morality and health.”
