Christian woman attacked and falsely accused, Uttarakhand.
A community of snake charmers live in a village near Dehradun, a town in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. They beg, steal, fightetc. for a living. From a very young age, they are introduced to this lifestyle. Everybody in the family is involved in thisprofession in some way or the other.
Evangelist Rose Mary has been visiting this community of Snake charmers because God has given her a burden for them and she considers them as her own. She introduced Jesus Christto them and their families and since then the Love of Christ has been spreading within the community and their lives havedrastically changed. This is precisely what happens when one has a real encounter with Jesus Christ.
Persecution Relief recently received a call on our Toll Free No : 1800-1234-461 from Evangelist Rose Mary. She testified about how the Lord miraculously saved her from raging mob of over a 100 religious fanatics.
On 20/03/2020 Rose was invited to lead a prayer meeting by the community at the house of a believer named Nath. It was almost afternoon, hence the family requested her to have lunch with them. She was a bit hesitant but did not want to offend them so she obliged.
As the family and Rose lunched together, they were suddenly interrupted by around 6 people. They entered Nath’s house and started asking the family what was happening there. Then, for no rhyme or reason, they started abusing the family members and Rose. Unhappy about their behaviour, Rose questioned them, “why are you unnecessarily abusing us? We are just sitting and having Lunch.” But the fanatics refused to listen to her and started accusing her of being involved in religious conversions. They then called the police.
“2 policemen rushed from the local Police Chowki(station) and asked me to accompany them to the Police station.” said Rose, narrating the incident to Persecution Relief.
“2 of my cousins accompanied me to the police station but to our surprise there was a big mob already waiting for us there. We noticed that all these people appeared to be from well to do families and had come in big expensive cars.” Observed Rose.
It was mid afternoon when Rose entered the police station as the mob followed her close behind, some of whom seemed to be under the influence of alcohol. When she looked around, sheseen a few police men dressed in civil clothes. They started questioning her saying, “ Are you converting people?” In the background, the fanatics began behaving in an unruly manner so the police asked her to get into the inner room and ignore the fanatics. But the hysterical mob overpowered the 3 policemen and got into the inner room. “Around 30 odd people surrounded me and rudely began questioning me all at once. They asked me how much money I get, how much money I give to bribe the poor people etc.” Said Rose.
Finally, they warned Rose and her cousins not to enter the community area again, threatening to beat them if they do! Some of the fanatics even opened Rose’s vehicle but thepolicemen protected Rose and her cousins, escorted them to their vehicle and helped them to leave the place immediately. In the midst of this raucous, Rose lost her spectacles and requested some of the village believers to collect them. Surprisingly, they informed her that the fanatics were still at the police station.
Pray that Rose would never stop trusting in God for guidance and protection and continue to do his work. Pray that the believers living in the snake charmers community would grow stronger in the Lord and draw many more lost souls to him. Pray that the mob of religious fanatics would stop harassing Rose and her cousins. All their evil plans would be cancelled in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and they would soon have a life changing encounter with Jesus Christ.
Fear can be a friend as well as an enemy. We ought to be afraid of driving too fast or going near a fire but many of our fears are unnecessary, like darkness or death. God would never want us to live in fear or be afraid of persecution. The Lord is truly the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid. Psalm 27:1.
