Christian community accepts the unconditional apology tendered by Farah Khan and Raveena Tandon
We appreciate Flipkart video and Walmart CEO for removing the offending web series off air.
The Christian community expresses appreciation to Flipkart video and Mr. Doug McMillon, the global CEO of Walmart for having considered our demand and the sentiments of the Christian community who were grieved by this particular series which made a mockery of the reverential word ‘Hallelujah’.
This evening Farah Khan and Raveena Tandon realising their folly and the growing resentment among the Christians in the nation went in person to His Eminence Cardinal Oswald Gracias to tender a written and unconditional apology to which the Cardinal graciuosly accepted.
It may be recalled that a couple of days ago Farah Khan had issued a statement by mentioning a customary regret for “inadvertently hurting sentiments’” which was apparently an eyewash.
A true apology expressing regret has to be one of admission for irresponsibly demeaning words of expression of worship and adoration.
The line between ‘inadvertence’ and ‘irresponsibility’ is definitely not a thin one.
It is common sense that this was well thought and deliberate and hence nothing less than an unconditional apology would have been acceptable and criminal complaints would have been filed against them across the nation.
I am glad that better sense has prevailed upon both the artistes which has ultimately compelled them to go in person and meet the Cardinal and apologise to put the matter to rest.
I appeal to the Christian community in this nation who have been enraged by this whole episode to accept their apology in the true spirit of Christ.
I also wish to thank MLA Ashish Shelar and Captain Allwyn Saldhana who facilitated the said meeting.
