Bible study halted by Police, Madhya Pradesh
Pastor John Ramar ministers at Savrda Village under Pasood Police Station, in Barwani District of Madhya Pradesh. Pastor had organised a Bible Study which commenced last night (27th) and was to conclude tomorrow noon (29th). A lot of preparation had gone into this event. Relevant Police permissions were secured as over 200 believers were gathering for this Bible Study.
The most important events in Christianity are the death and the resurrection of Jesus Christ, whose life and teachings are the foundation of Christianity. The week preceding Easter is the week during which Christians particularly remember the last week of Jesus’s life. Christians meditate on Jesus’s suffering and death on the cross, and what this means for their faith.
On 28th morning, the solemn Bible Study was rudely interrupted and forcibly shut down by the Police. A jeep full of Police men arrived at the venue and stated that 2 or 3 people in the neighborhood had protested and lodged a complaint alleging religious conversion was being carried out – a charge the pastor denied.
Guardians of the law, instead of providing protection to the gathering, influenced by these religious fundamentalists, Police claimed that they had no choice but to cancel the prayer meeting and shut down the assembly.
Pastor claimed that the charges are absolutely baseless. The people were attending the fasting and prayer meeting voluntarily.
Church, pray for the administration who are alleged to be working in connivance with the caste and religious outfits, to break down the resolve and intimidate Christians.
