Every day, Pastor and members of the Church, gather for prayers from 5 – 6 am, including on Sunday, before the Worship Service.
On Sunday, 03rd February, as was customary, Pastor Edwin Joseph and his wife arrived at 4.45 am to open the Church. What greeted them was the sight of the entire Church on fire with leaping tongues of flames and thick billows of smoke engulfing the whole area.
Pastor along with his wife, members of the congregation and good Samaritans from the neighbourhood, helped put out the fire.
Speaking to Persecution Relief, Pastor mentioned that there had been no precedent of any anti-Christian incident. Terrified and scared with the scale of danger and destruction, Pastor appeared at a loss for words to explain what caused the blaze!
“All electrical outlets in the Church were switched off and no candles were lit. There has been no prior incident to alarm us.”
“We live in a residential area and live in a peaceful manner. Only God knows who is responsible for this arson attack”.
“I thank God that no one was hurt in the blaze!”
The AG Church which had been a sanctuary for worship, for over 150 persons in Musiri, is now severely damaged in the arson attack.
Pastor Edwin lives close by the Church in a rented home. The Church had been registered with the necessary paperwork and has been in operation for the past 8 years.
A Television set, electronic equipment’s, music instruments and floor mats were consumed by the fire. The cost of reconstruction of the Church, is estimated to be around Rs. 5 Lakhs. If any of our readers wish to extend financial assistance to Pastor Edwin Joseph, please write to firstname.lastname@example.org or contact us on WhatsAppNo: + 99932 22200.
Church, please pray for Pastor, his family and the congregation, that they may continue to trust and commit their faith in the faithful Creator God, whose mercy is from everlasting to everlasting, whose justice cannot be overruled, who has a good plan, no matter how bad the situation looks.
In Tamil Nadu, the scale of “crack down” against the Christian minority community has been unprecedented, with tighter surveillance of churches and on those who continue to worship a western God, Jesus Christ.
Persecution Relief has recorded more than 67 persecution incidents in Tamil Nadu in 2018, the 2ndmost hostile among 29 states. Across the country in India, the doors of a multitude of Churches have been sealed and scores arrested on false charges of indulging in conversion activities.
Church, continue to fast and pray for Tamil Nadu and for India.
