“Someone wrote yesterday that Christians are facing problems in the country, churches are being demolished, Christians are being beaten up”.
“After being in power for three-and-half years, tell me whether a stone has been thrown at a church? Has a Christian been attacked anywhere?”
“I’m a Christian and I’m proud to be a nationalist, let me tell you that,”
This irresponsible and false statement has sparked outrage among Christian Leaders and the Christian Minority Community at large, who have resonated the view that the statement is not only irresponsible and discriminatory but also suggests that Christians are fabricating stories which is provocative and inaccurate.
Either the Minister is ill-informed and ignorant of the issues plaguing the Christian Community, in which case he should sensitize the Government to investigate the issues through the legal and institutional mechanisms, to ensure the rights of all Christians are respected, whatever the cost – or, the Minister is deliberately avoiding confronting the truth and choosing to blatantly disregard the secular position of the nation; giving latitude to the offenders, who are already bulldozing into the lives of Christian Community in India, with total disregard and impunity to the supreme law of the nation.
Persecution Relief has reported more than 1000 cases in the past 2 years; more than 6 men of God have been martyred for their faith; 100’s of Churches attacked; more than 300 men, women and children beaten up; innumerable false cases of conversions registered where many men and women of God are lodged in jails; so many Churches and House Churches closed down by local government administration; Bibles and Christian Literature’s burnt, Churches vandalized and desecrated, registrations cancelled under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act, International aid stopped alleging misuse of foreign funding for proselytization, Christian Orphanages and Schools closed down on dubious grounds – to list a few of the incidents.
Persecution Relief is campaigning to highlight the truth of Christian Persecution in India, so that this can reach the highest authority and a solution be found.
We humbly solicit an appointment at the earliest, with the Hon. Minister Mr. Alphons Joseph Kannanthanam, to share with him the truth. We may be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org
