2 Pastors detained during Sunday Worship, Madhya Pradesh

Persecution Relief received a call on the Toll-Free Helpline line Number: 1800-1234-461 from Pastor Raj, informing us that 3 of his colleagues had been arrested while worship service was in progress.

Pastor Mahendra was ministering along with Pastor Prem & Bro. Rahul at Satna district. They had congregated at a Christian Bro.’s residence, along with 60 other Christians.

Worship service of TICM started at 10 am. As the worship service was just concluding –   around 8 people stormed into the Church. They began abusing and shouting at the Pastors, accusing them of indulging in religious conversion. They accused them of making a fool of ignorant people and offering them inducements, to make them Christians.

A Group of Media persons, accompanying the fanatics, were covering the proceedings. They started questioning the congregation.

“Why have you chosen to follow Christ?”

“How much money was paid for you to convert to Christianity?

The congregated Christians, though initially taken aback by the incursion, boldly shared their testimonies and spoke with real conviction of their faith in Jesus Christ and the reason they believe and follow Him.

In the meantime, Police were informed about the attack by religious fanatics and rushed to the Church. All 3 Pastors were arrested and taken to the Police Station at Amarpatan in Satna District.

Persecution relief spoke with SI Brijwan Singh, local Political leaders, local Church Leaders including Rev. Pramod Thomas and other officials, who collectively worked to secure the release of the Pastors. By the grace and mercy of God, they were released at 11 pm, last night.

The SI of Police, told the Pastors that they could lodge a complaint against the persecutors. But the Pastors used the opportunity, to testify about the Lord Jesus who commands us to love and forgive our persecutors. The Police were very supportive and suggested that they inform the local administration about the worship services and take prior permission. They asked for a copy of the permission letter to be given to them as well.

Church, equip and train every Christian across India, to stand strong and face such situations without fear.

Please train them to respond in love to the evil shown by their aggressors and not to fight or argue with them – but bless them.

Pray that God would open the eyes and soften the hearts of these individuals who bring unimaginable abuse upon Christians.

  1. It would be more appropriate to Lodge counter FIR. That will empower the inspector to help further if help is needed. Like this police is powerless unable to provide effective help.
